Edward Lewis Ferman is an American science fiction and fantasy editor and magazine publisher, known best as the editor of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.
Background
Edward Ferman was born in New York City. He is Joseph's W. Ferman son, serving as the managing editor since 1962, took over as editor of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction in 1964, though Joseph Ferman continued to be listed as editor until 1966.

Career
From January 1966 to June 1991 was a chief editor of the magazine «The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction» («F & SF»). From April 1962 worked on the magazine under the direction of first Avram Davidson, and then under the direction of his father, Joseph W. Ferman. The first issue, fully prepared by himself, was released in April 1965.
For twenty-five years at the helm of Ferman has achieved that «F & SF» has become one of the leading science fiction magazines of the USA. The pages published works of many authors who subsequently entered the "golden pantheon" of science fiction and fantasy. In particular, in the «F & SF» was oublished works of Dean Koontz, James Tiptree Jr., John Varley, Lucius Shepard and Karen Joy Fowler, Kurt Vonnegut and many others. It «F & SF» in several issues have seen the light "A Canticle for Leibowitz" by Walter M. Miller and the first part of "The Dark Tower" by Stephen King. During his time in Fermanagh journal were published almost four hundred scientific articles by Isaac Asimov, left column kinoobzorov Harlan Ellison and comics Geyhena Wilson. Covers to numbers painted best "fantastic" artists. No wonder in 1981, Furman won the special award "Hugo" with the wording "for their efforts to improve and expand its field of activity."
In 1991, Ferman pass title of chief editor to Kristine Kathryn Rusch.
However, the Ferman's activity was not limited by «The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction». In the period 1969-1970, he also was the editor of the «F & SF» edition «Venture Science Fiction Magazine». Together with his father, he published comic magazine «PS», anf for a short time he worked at the magazine about mysticism and other occult matters «Inner Space».
Also Ferman is well known as the originator. First of all, it's a half a dozen articles associated with the magazine anthology series «Best of« F & SF », but not only.
