Member, Odessa Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party Committee. Several times arrested and exiled. May 1917 elected member, Central Executive Committee of Rumanian Front, Black-Sea Fleet and Odessa Military district.
Helped organize Red Guards in Odessa. Dcleg at 2nd All-Russian Congress of Soviets. Fought in 1917 October revolt in Petrograd.
Elected member, All-Russian Central Executive Committee. 1918, during German occupation of Ukraine, underground Party work in Kharkov, Kiev and Odessa. 1919 member, Kiev then Odessa Revol Committee.
Deputy chairman, All-Ukraine Railroad Revol Committee. From 1920 Party, government and economics work.
