From 14 November 1894 Empress of Russia and wife of Tsar Nikolay II, on whom she exercised a strong influence. Had five children, including the hemophilic Aleksey. A religious and superstitious women, she surrounded herself with all kinds of faith-healers, including Rasputin, who influenced her on matters of state.
March 1917 arrested and exiled to Tobol’sk and later to Yekaterinburg. Condemned to death along with other members of royal family by Ural Oblast Soviet.
