1894 entered Saint St. Petersburg Technol Institute.
1898, while still a student, devised a high-compression compressorless self-ignition internal-combustion engine. 1899 claimed and 1904 received patent license Nr 8766 for this engine. Although the engine had been built and tested at the Putilov Plant (now Leningrad’s Kirov Plant), he was not able to manufacture it in Russia.
1905 went to Germany, where his Trinkler engine was manufactured by the Kerting Plant. 1907-1928 worked at Somiovo (now Red Sormovo) Plant. From 1934 professor, Gorky Institute of Water Transport Engineer.
