Dr. Ravasco attained her degree in Nutritional Sciences and Food Engineering in 2000, after having conducted the required research project and respective Monograph at the Centre of Nutrition and Metabolism in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon. Immediately after graduation, she was invited by the Centre Director to join the research team and pursue her post-graduate education in Clinical Nutrition.
She is at present, for more than one year she is a full time teaching assistant after a nation-wide contest application.Dr. Ravasco presented or is co-author of 40 scientific communications in international congresses and of 14 in national congresses. For the past 2 years, she had been an invited speaker in 15 national/international meetings or post-graduate courses. She applied and received 3 research grants and was awarded 4 national or international prizes in clinical research.Dr. Ravasco attended the Advanced Post-graduate Course in Clinical Nutrition by the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN) in Maastricht and Bonn in May 2000. She attended the Course on Research Methodology by the Faculty of Medicine of the Universityof Lisbon from March to May 2000. She also attended the FASEB Summer Research Conferences on the impact of nutritional status on immune function and health, in Vermont, United States of America in July 2003.
Dr. Ravasco is involved in several scientific activities since May 2001. She is a member of the National Association of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (APNEP) and of the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN), in which she is the official representative of Portugal. Dr. Ravasco is also involved in the organisation of scientific congresses, namely the upcoming 26 th ESPEN 2004. She was invited as a reviewer of scientific papers in 2003.
