Raul E. Tellez was born on February 7, 1964, in Washington D.C., United States.
Tellez received his Bachelor of Science degree with honors from the University of Louisville in 1988 majoring in Political Science. Later, in 1991 he was granted the Juris Doctor degree by the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
At the beginning of his career, Tellez worked for a number of years as a law clerk and legal consultant at the General Electric Aircraft Engines located in Cincinnati, 1989-1992. After receiving his Doctor of Law degree, he set up his own private practice in Cincinnati and worked as an attorney from 1992 to 2003 managing law office operations, case assignment, and support staff. He also conducted jury and bench trials, and argued appellate cases, in federal and state court. Tellez has a brief experience in volunteering for the Columbia-Tusculum Safety Committee from 1994 to 1995. Around this period he also co-founded the Hispanic Coalition for Equality in 1994.
After closing his private practice, Tellez entered the GE IT Solutions, Inc. in 2003, and filled the position of a VP & Associate General Counsel. He continued until 2005 fulfilling the tasks of compliance, export control, and corporate governance counsel for former information technology subsidiary of General Electric. During this time he also developed and implemented training programs on anti-corruption, antitrust, international trade, diversity, and privacy.
From 2005 to 2008 Tellez worked as a Divisional Assistant VP & Senior Corporate Counsel for the Great American Insurance company providing primary legal support to the CIO and procurement department. In 2008 he became a Director of Compliance, Security & Chief Privacy Officer for the Nortel Networks and recruited as lead counsel for North American compliance program for the major telecommunications company. During this time he successfully promoted to manage the global compliance program and served as the Chief Privacy Officer. Created company policies and procedures that impacted over 100,000 employees worldwide.
After deciding to establish his own business, Tellez opened the Big Frog Custom T-Shirts of Cincinnati franchise, which he became a sole owner and operated until 2016. From 2013 he also combined it with his work as a director for the Intelligrated Systems, LLC negotiating and preparing complex sales agreements for major retailers, e-commerce providers, and food and beverage companies. In 2016 he became a Vice President for the Pro Mach company providing legal counseling for integrated packaging and labeling provider for the food and beverage, household goods, and pharmaceutical industries.
As of today, Tellez works as a Vice President of Legal for the Luminex Home Décor & Fragrance serving as general counsel for Luminex Home Décor & Fragrance Co., and its two subsidiaries Candle-Lite Co. and PartyLite Inc., which are leading global providers of scented candles and other fragrance products, as well as home decor goods.
Tellez is a member of the following organizations: American Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, Cincinnati Bar Association, Ohio Academy Trial Lawyers.
