      World War battle action, Marne Offensive. Toulon Sector; St. Mihiel Offensive and Meuse-Argonne Offensive. Appointed Brigadier General, United States Army, since 1928.

      Awarded decorations; Distinguished Service Cross, for gallantry in action in Philippine Insurrection. Distinguished Service Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster, gallantry in action World War. Distinguished Service Medal.
