Appointed Notary Public, since 1907. Elected Member, Floyd Company Board of Roads and Revenue, 1911-1917, Chairman of Board, 1917. The Board built many miles of fine roads and put in three hundred concrete culverts and bridges including three bridges over the rivers at Rome, Georgia.
; also built Company Home for Company Poor.
Member, Floyd Company Board Education, 1918, now Chairman of Board, which commenced the creation of consolidated schools. Elected as one of the three mems. of House of Representative from Floyd Company. since 1923. Chairman, Education Committee in Georgia.
House of Representative for six years. Active in all Education Legislation and took prominent part in getting the Public School appropriation increased from three and one-half million dollars to five million dollars. Active in getting an appropriation of two million dollars as an equalization fund to help the poor cos. and lengthen their school terms.
