Founded “modern Soviet operetta” genre around Civil War themes and struggle of frontier guards with saboteurs during World War П. Depending on their subjects, his operettas are musically connected with Ukrainia folksong and folk musical comedy and with Spanish folk melodies, etc. His symphonies and other instrumental works are rarely performed.
