Musa AYBEK, Uzbek writer, poet and translator. Real name: TASHMUKHAMEDOV. Full member, Uzbek Academy of Sciences, since 1943; Secretary, USSR Union of Writers, since 1959. Stalin Prize, 1946; Order of Lenin; Order of Red Banner of Labor, 1955.
AYBEK, Musa was born in 1905 in Tashkent.
Graduated Economics Faculty, Tashkent University.
Traveled over almost all Central Asia. Well-acquainted with life of native populations. Studied people’s mode of life, manners, folklore and customs.
Deputy, USSR Supreme Soviet of 1958 convocation. 1958 signed, together with other Soviet writers, Address to the Writers of the World protesting against Anglo-American armed intervention in Lebanon and Jordan. Translated into Uzbek Pushkin’s “Eugene Onegin”, Goethe’s “Faust” and other classics.
