Conductor; Professor, and Director, Chair for Choral Conducting, Tallinn State Conservatory, since 1946; Popular Artist of USSR since 1956 and of Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic since 1954; Honoured Art Worker of Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic since 1954; board member, USSR Union of Composers, since 1957; board member, Estonia Union of Composers, since 1941.

      Member, Choristers’ Association, and Estonia Academy Society of Composers. One of organizers and permanent conductors of massed choirs with up to 25,000-35,000 singers which perform annually at traditional song festivals in Estonia.
