Professor, since 1929; Doctor of Medicine Science; Science Director, and Head, Therapeutic Department, Moscow Research Institute of Tuberculosis, USSR Academy of Medical Science, since 1951; Science Director, Moscow City Central General Tuberculosis Hospital; Honoured Worker of Science Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic since 1958.

      Since 1939 Chairman, Moscow Society of Phthisiologists. Member, International Union for Combatting Tuberculosis. Editor, multi-volume handbook on tuberculosis.

      Со-Editor, “Internal Diseases” section, “Bolshaya meditsinskya entsiklopediya” (Large Medical Encyclopedia), 2nd edition. 1948 and 1957 organizer and Chairman, 5th and 6th All-Union Congresses of Phthisiologists. Devised clinical classification of tuberculosis, adopted by 5th All-Union Congress of Phthisiologists.

      Works deal with clinical aspects, pathogenesis and therapy of tuberculosis. 1915-1920 physician in Yekaterinodar, now Krasnodar, hospitals. 1921-1926 Director, Tuberculosis Institute, and lecturer in phthisiology, Kuban Medicine Institute, Krasnodar.

      1926-1951 Director, Moscow City Tuberculosis Research Institute, now an institutes of USSR Academy of Medical Science. 1926-1929 lecturer, Chair of Hospital Therapy, 2nd Moscow University. 1929-1951 Head, Chair of Phthisiology, 2ndMoscow Medicine Institute.
