Master of wood-cuts for book illustration. 1925 helped found Society of Easel Painters. 1937 designed facade of Soviet Pavilion at Paris World Fair.
1935 designed proscenium wall of Soviet Army Theater, Moscow, and ceiling paintings in Moscow Metro. Executed d6cor for many shows in Sov, theaters. Illustrator of Russ, and foreign classics.
1958 exhibited at Brussels Exhibition. 1915-1917 in Russia Army. 1919-1921 in Red Army.
Since 1921 taught at various higher art institutes in Moscow. 1923-1925 Rector, Moscow Higher Art and Technology Studios. Then Professor, at: Moscow Higher Art and Technology Institute.
