1926 in single-engined ANT-3 plane made record flight Moscow - Berlin - Paris - Rome - Vienna - Prague - Moscow, covering 7,150 kilometers in 34 hours. 1929 in three-engined ANT-9 plane “Krylya Sovetov” made record flight Moscow - Berlin - Prague - London - Rome - Warsaw - Moscow, covering 9,040 kilometers. 1934 made nonstop 75 hour flight over closed course covering more than 12,000 kilometers.
1937 with Yumashev and Danilin flew Moscow - North Pole - San Jacinto (United States of America) covering 10,148 kilometers. After the war again a test-pilot. 1918-1921 in Red Army, then assist, instructor, Moscow Air Force School.
1921-1926 test pilot,Department of Experimental Aircraft Construction, Central Aerodynamics and Hydrodynamics Institute. 1942-1943 commanded long-range air corps on Kalinin Front. 1943-1944 Commander, 1st Air Army on Western Front.
