Fedor Tarasovich GUSEV

Fedor GUSEV, USSR Dipl, with rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. USSR Ambassador to Sweden since 1956. two Order of Lenin.


  • GUSEV, Fedor was born in 1905.

  • Education

    • 1931 graduated Leningrad Institute of Soviet Construction. 1937 graduated Institute for Dipl, and Consular Officials.


    • Until 1935, worked in the Economic Planning Commission of the Leningrad area. In 1935, accepted as a student at the Institute for Diplomatic and Consular Officials, and specialized in British institutions. Spent a year in Ottawa, 1942-1943.

      Transferred to London, 1943, to replace Ivan Maiskii as Soviet Ambassador. Participant at the Tehran, Yalta and Potsdam conferences. Soviet representative, 1943-1945, on the European Advisory Commission which drew up the terms for capitulation and occupation of enemy states.

      Delegate at the United Nations and at the deliberations of the Allied foreign ministers. During his stay in London as Soviet Ambassador, 1943-1946, was often seen at the frequently empty diplomatic gallery in the House of Commons. Recalled to Moscow, August 1946, and appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and at the same time Deputy of the Supreme Soviet. Soviet Ambassador to Sweden in 1956-1962.

      Retired in 1975.
