Vera GUZHOVA, USSR Singer (soprano). Popular Artist of Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic since 1941; instructor, Kiev Conservatory, since 1950.

    Career

    • 1924-1950 singer at theaters of opera and ballet in Kharkov, Odessa and Kiev. 1949-1950 instructor, Kharkov Conservatory. Main roles: Tatyana and Liza in Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” and “Pikovaya dama” (Queen of Spades).

      Yaroslavna in Borodin’s “Knyaz Igor” (Prince Igor). Aida in Verdi’s “Aida”. Natalka in Lysenko’s “Natalka Poltavka”.

      Odarka in Gulak-Artcmovsky’s “Zaporozhets za Dunaem” (A Dnieper Cossack Beyond the Danube).
