    Career

    • Specialist in theory of elasticity and plasticity. Associate, since 1943, Head, Strength of Materials Department, 1953-1960 Director, Institute of Mechanics, USSR Academy of Science. 1937 designed a pile driver to test materials and model structures at high rates of deformation.

      1942-1948 developed theory of slight elastic and plastic deformations and theory of stability of plates and casings beyond the limits of elasticity. 1951-1952 developed simulation theory for pressure-working of metals. 1953-1954 established isotropy postulate of general theory of plasticity.

      Deputy, Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic Supreme Soviet of 1951 and 1955 convocation. Deputy Chairman, Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic Supreme Soviet of 1951 convocation.
