Sergey Petrovich KHROMOV
Sergey KHROMOV, USSR Meteorologist. Professor 1953; Doctor of Geography Science since 1941; Professor, Chair of Climatology, Moscow University, since 1953. Order of Red Banner of Labor, 1943; Litke Gold Medal of the All-Union Geography Society, 1949.
KHROMOV, Sergey was born in 1904.
1925 graduated Physico-Mathematical Faculty, Moscow University.
1929 active in the organ, of the Weather Bureau, now Central Weather Institute. 1935 helped in organ, of Science Research Department, Central Weather Institute. At various times member, Editorial Board of a number of special journals: “Mirovedenie” (Geography), “Zhumal geofiziki” (Geophysical Journal), “Meteorologiya i Gidrologiya” (Meteorology and Hydrology).
Since 1946 member, USSR All-Union Geography Society. Since 1954 member, Editorial Board, “Izvestiya Vsesoyuznogo geograficheskogo obshchestva” (News of the All-Union Geographical Society). Edition and contributor, “Bolshaya Sovetskaya Entsiklopediya” (Large Soviet Encyclopedia) and other encyclopedic works.
Edition of a number of meteorological and climatological books by Soviet authors, and of many translated works by foreign authors. 1924-1925 junior associate, Aerological Observatory, and later Station Network Department, Moscow Geography Institute. 1925-1930 at Moscow Weather Bureau.
1930-1936 associate, Central Weather Forecasting Institute, Moscow. 1936-1941 Head, Chair of Synoptic Meteorology, Moscow Hydrometeorological Institute. 1941-1945 trained military meteorologists in Red Army and did some work at the Central Weather Forecasting Institute.
1946-1953 Head, Chair of Meteorology and Climatology, Leningrad University, and Director, Artie Institute and Hydrometeorological Institute.
