1905-1916 locomotive engineer at rail depot. 1926 developed new type of automatic brake, adopted 1930-1932 under name “Matrosov’s Brake” as standard for freight trains. 1935 redesigned this brake for use on Moscow Metro.
1946 developed new type of brake, adopted 1953 for railroad rolling stock. 1955-1956 developed new type of automatic brake “MTZ-270” for passenger trains and engineer’s brake valve.
