Lev OBORIN, USSR Pianist. Professor, Moscow State Conservatory, since 1935; Popular Artist Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic since 1955; Art Worker Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. First Prize at International Pianists’ Competition in Warsaw, 1927; Stalin Prize, 1943; Order of Lenin; Badge of Honor; medals.

    Career

    • 1928-1934 instructor, Moscow Conservatory. Interpreted major works of Soviet composers A. Khachaturyan, V. Shebalin, S. Prokofiev, Yu. Shaporin and others; 1927 played at first Chopin International Competition in Warsaw.

      Gave concerts in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Rumania, Sweden, France, Austria, Greece and other countries. Plays in regular sonata ensemble with D. Oistrakh (violin) and in trio ensemble with D. Oistrakh and S. Knushevitsky (cello). Author of numerous piano pieces, sonatas, romances, symphonic scherzos, etc.
