Mikhail OLSHANSKY, USSR Selectionist and agronomist. Full member, AllUnion Lenin Academy, of Agriculture Science, since 1948; USSR Minister of Agriculture since 1960; candidate member of the Central Committee, Communist Party of the Soviet Union, since 1961. two Stalin Prizes, 1941, 1951. Member, Communist Party, since 1932.

    • 1928-1941 and 1945-1951 at All-Union Selection and Genetics Institute, Odessa. 1942-1945 Director, Kuybyshev Agriculture Institute. 1951-1961 V.-President, All-Union Lenin Academy, of Agriculture Science.

      1958 Actg. Director, Fodder Institute. 1955 Deputy, Moscow Oblast Soviet. 1957 attended All-Ukrainia Conference on Selection and Seed-Growing.

      Works deal with selection of cotton and gambo hemp and with selection theory.
