Andrey PROKOPCHUK, USSR Dermatovenerologist. Doctor of Medicine Science since 1936; Professor 1931; full member, Belarusian Academy of Sciences, since 1940; Director, Belarusian State Research Institute for Skin and Venereal Diseases, since 1932. Member, Communist Party, since 1917.

    • 1932 graduated Medical Faculty, 2nd Moscow University. 1928-1929 specialized in serology and histopathology of the skin at Sorbonne and also at Institute of Experimental Medicine in Leningrad.

    Career

    • 1917-1919 engaged in Party work. 1936-1940 corresponding member, Belarusian Academy of Sciences. 1940-1947 member, Presidium, same Academy.

      Edited 4 volume of science works of Belarusian Institute for Skin and Venereal Diseases and 6 symposiums entitled “Prakticheskaya dermatologiya” (Practical Dermatology). 1939 developed “akrakhin” (quinacrine) treatment of Lupus vulgaris. Deputy, Minsk City Soviet.

      1913-1917 primary school teacher in Zhizhmory, now Vilnius Oblast. 1923v26 intern., Moscow University Clinic for Skin and Venereal Diseases. 1927 Senior Assistant, Chair of Skin and Venereal Diseases, Medical Faculty, Belarusian University, Minsk.
