Vitaliy RYZHKOV, USSR Microbiologist and virologist. Doctor of Biological Science; corresponding member, USSR Academy of Science, since 1946; Professor 1934; senior associate, Institute of Microbiology, USSR Academy of Science, since 1936. Stalin Prize, 1946; Order of Red Banner of Labor; medals.
RYZHKOV, Vitaliy was born in 1896.
Higher training in biology and specialized in microbiology.
1938 together with Ye. P. Gromyko devised new method of obtaining purified tobacco mosaic virus and determined nature of changes in metabolism of higher plants caused by viruses. Со-Editor, “Microbiology” section, “Bolshaya meditsinskaya entsiklopediya” (Large Medical Encyclopedia), 2nd edition.
