Aleksandr SHENNIKOV, USSR Botanist. Instructor, Leningrad University, since 1919; corresponding member, USSR Academy of Science, since 1946; associate, Botanical Institute, USSR Academy of Science, since 1925; Honoured Worker of Science Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic since 1948.
SHENNIKOV, Aleksandr was born in 1888.
1912 graduated St. Petersburg University.
Studied vegetation of USSR meadows and devised classification for it. Studies theory of phytocenology and methodics of geobotanical zoning. 1912-1936 at Leningrad Forest Institute, now Leningrad Forestry Academy.
