Eduard SMILGIS, USSR Producer and actor. Popular Artist of USSR since 1948; Chief Producer, Latvia State Arts Theater, since 1920. Order of Lenin; Order of Red Banner of Labor; Stalin Prize, 1947.

      Best-known productions: R. Blauman’s “Bludny syn” (The Prodigal Son) (1936). Gorky's “Yegor Bulychev”. Stage adaptation of Tolstoy's “Anna Karenina”.
