Mukarrama TURGUNBAEVA, USSR Ballerina and choreographer. Artistic Director and Chief Choreographer, “Bakhor” Folkdance Ensemble, Uzbek Philharmonic, since 1957; Popular Artist of Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic; Popular Artist of USSR since 1959. two Stalin Prizes, 1946, 1951. Member, Communist Party, since 1953.

    • Since 1929 at Samarkand Music Theater. Since 1936 soloist, Uzbek Theater of Opera and Ballet. 1933-1941 producer and folkdance instructor at a Tashkent ballet school.

      1945-1957 at Uzbek Choreographic School. Deputy, Uzbek Supreme Soviet of 1951, 1955 and 1959 convocation. Roles in national ballets: Brusilovsky’s “Gulyandom” and Vasilenko’s “Ak-Bilyak”.

      Zarema in Asafev’s “Bakhchisaraysky fontan” (The Bakhchisaray Fountain), etc.
