Vavik VARDANYAN, USSR Actor and producer. Professor; drama instructor; member, Committee Lenin Prizes for Literature and Art, USSR Council of Ministers, since 1960; Chairman, Armenian Theatrical Society. Member, Communist Party, since 1945.

    Career

    • Until 1923 actor and producer at various theaters in Northern Caucasus and Astrakhan. 1928-1937 actor, since 1937 Producer, Sundukyan Theater, Yerevan. 1937 helped organize Stanislavsky Russia Theater, Yerevan.

      1944 Director, and Head, Chair of Stagecraft, Yerevan Theatrical Institute. Deputy, Armenian Supreme Soviet of 1947 and 1951 convocation. Has produced: Gorky's “Vragi” (The Enemies).

      Pogodin’s “Chelovek s ruzhem” (Man with a Gun). Saryan’s “Kleveta” (Slander). Muratsan’s “Georg Marzpetuni”.

      Gulyakan’s “Na zare” (At Dawn), etc. Roles: Zvezdich in Lermontov’s “Maskarad” (Masquerade). Tikhon and Boris in Ostrovsky’s “Groza”.

      The Baron and Pavlich in Gorky's “Na dne” (The Lower Depths) and “Yegor Bulychev i drugie” (Yegor Bulychev and the Others), etc.
