1923 began to study aircraft design when he took part in Glider Contest at Koktebl, Crimea. Has designed sports, training, passenger, fighter and bomber planes and also helicopters. Main work devoted to design of piston and jet military aircraft, mainly fighters and interceptors.
Deputy, USSR Supreme Soviet of 1946, 1950, 1954 and 1958 convocation. 1923-1925 in Red Army as motor mechanical at Frunze Central Military Airport, Moscow. 1925-1927 at training shops, Zhukovsky Air Force Engineering Academy.
1931-1934 at Dept, of Experimental Aircraft Construction, Red Army Main Air Force Board. 1934-1957 Chief Designer, Experimental Design Bureau. 1940-1948 Deputy Popular Commissar, then USSR Deputy Minister of Aviation Industry, while still working at Experimental Design Bureau.
