Petr YERNSHTEDT, USSR Philologist. Specialist in Greek and Coptic languages; Professor, Leningrad University; corresponding member, USSR Academy of Science, since 1946.
YERNSHTEDT, Petr was born in 1890.
Published and wrote commentary to many unpublished Greco-Egyptian papyri dating from late Roman, Byzantine and Arabic periods. Analysed and described two collections of Coptic papyri. Advanced hypothesis of ancient links between Greek and Egyptian.
