    Career

    • Since 1912 in navy; since 1918 in Soviet Navy. First in Volga-Caspian Flotilla, then since 1920 on torpedo cruiser “Petropavlovsk” in Baltic Fleet. After Civil War exec, officer, then commanded battleship, a destroyer division and cruiser brigade.

      1937-1939 Chief of Staff, then Commander, Black Sea Fleet. 1939-1947 Commander, Pacific Fleet. 1943-1956 candidate member of the Central Committee, Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

      1947-1951 Commander in Chief, Soviet Navy and USSR Minister of the Navy. 1951-1957 Head, Voroshilov Naval Academy.

    Member, Communist Party, since 1918.

    The emphasis on peaceful coexistence doesn’t mean that the Soviet Union accepted a static world with clear lines. Socialism is inevitable and the "correlations of forces" were moving towards socialism.
