1918-1920 fought in Civil War with Red Army. 1939-1940 commanded division in Soviet-Finnish War. 1941-1945 commanded division, Guards corps and 4th Guards Army in advance on Vienna.
Commanded army in campaign against Japanese in Manchuria. After World War II until 1955 served in Belarusian Military District. Deputy, Belarusian Supreme Soviet of 1955 convocation. After the Hungarian uprising, sent to direct the reSovietization of the Hungarian Army, 1957-1960. Deputy Head, Frunze Military Academy, since 1955.
