Nikanor Dmitrievich Zakhvataev

Nikanor ZAKHVATAEV, USSR Colonel-General.


  • Zakhvataev, Nikanor was born in 1898.

  • Education

    • Graduated from the Frunze Military Academy, 1935, and from the Academy of the General Staff, 1939.


    • 1918-1920 fought in Civil War with Red Army. 1939-1940 commanded division in Soviet-Finnish War. 1941-1945 commanded division, Guards corps and 4th Guards Army in advance on Vienna.

      Commanded army in campaign against Japanese in Manchuria. After World War II until 1955 served in Belarusian Military District. Deputy, Belarusian Supreme Soviet of 1955 convocation. After the Hungarian uprising, sent to direct the reSovietization of the Hungarian Army, 1957-1960. Deputy Head, Frunze Military Academy, since 1955.


    Religious leaders contribute to secular and religious wars by endorsing or supporting the violence.


    The emphasis on peaceful coexistence doesn’t mean that the Soviet Union accepted a static world with clear lines. Socialism is inevitable and the "correlations of forces" were moving towards socialism.
