Antonio GENOVESI, Italian economist.
GENOVESI, Antonio was born in 1712 in Salerno, Italy.
A great teacher and founder of a distinct Neapolitan school. His published lectures have been criticised for lack of rigour and system. However, they cover the range of utilitarian ideas current at the time and present a balanced view of trade questions which gives credit to mercantilist ideas.
Teacher Metaphysics, Professor Commerce, University Naples, 1741-1754, 1754-1769.
