  • JUGLAR, Clement was born in 1819 in France.

  • Career

    • From his early background in medicine he brought to the study of economics a scientific training and an interest in demographic phenomena. He turned immediately to the question of commercial crises, becoming in fact the first noted theorist of the business cycle. He viewed business cycles of 7- 11 years’ duration as occurring naturally and unavoidably.

      His use of statistics was able and imaginative and he proved to be a remarkably accurate predictor of the turning points in business cycles. Physician; Teacher Statistics, L’Ecole Libre des Sciences Political.
