Vice-President, State Dental Nurse’s Institute, 1981-1984. Member, central committee of the Public Service Association, (dental nurse’s occupational group), 1983-1984. Elected to parliament for Horowhenna, 198487.
Chairperson: Parliamentary Select Committee on Social Services. A sub-Committee on Social Welfare. Re-elected to Parliament since 1987.
Member: House Select Committee. Caucus Committee on Women, Social Services and Community Affairs. Minister of Employment, Minister of Immigration and Minister of Youth Affairs, 1989-1990.
Under-Secretary for Social Welfare, Employment and Youth Affairs. Helped establish the Social Welfare District Executive Committees. Representative for the Minister on the Social Welfare Commission.
