After the October Revolution an organizer of young communists in Finland, 1918, and member of the Finnish Red Guards. After the defeat of the Finnish communists, fled to the Soviet Union. Took part in the Russian Civil War, participated in the action against the Kronstadt sailors, 1921.
Leader of the Finnish communists in exile in the Soviet Union, and underground in Finland in the 1920s and 1930s. Arrested in Finland, 1934. After Soviet demands was sent to the Soviet Union, 1940.
During World War II killed during a Soviet attack on Finland.
