Graduated from the Surikov Institute in Moscow.
Grew up in the Moscow suburbs. Taught painting in Moscow art schools. Started to contribute to samizdat publications in the early 1950s, while still in the army.
One of the organizers of the unofFicial Klassika exhibition at the Surikov Institute. Left the USSR in 1972 to join his French wife. Lives in Paris. Publisher of an interesting series of booklets, Statistika Rossii 1907-1917.
Continues the tradition of art editions, established by Russian painters in Paris in the 1900s. Works shown at many exhibitions in Europe.
