1st Deputy USSR Minister of the Petroleum
Industry, 1972-1977. Minister from April 1977. Candidate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1981.
Removed from the post of minister due to problems in the oil industry and decline in output. Replaced by Vasilii Dinkov.
