Pepeliaev. Commander of a Siberian regiment in Omsk, 1918. In May 1918, with Czech troops, rebelled against the Bolsheviks. Commander of the 1st Siberian Army (White).
In December 1918, took Perm’. Tried to call a Zemskii Sobor in Siberia. After Admiral Kolchak’s defeat, tried to replace him by his own brother.
Retreated to the Amur River, later Kharbin. Became close to the SRs, approved of the Soviet war with Poland. In Sep. 1922, illegally crossed the Russian border with a 700-strong detachment to aid the Yakut anticommunist rebellion.
Taken prisoner on 17 June 1923 by S. Vostretsov’s troops. Sentenced to death, commuted to 10 years imprisonment. A victim of the Gulag.
