Graduated from the Moscow Choreographic School, 1918. Pupil of N. Domashev and V. Tikhomirov.
Debut with the Bolshoi Theatre in The Little Hunchbacked Horse. Among his best roles were Petrushka, and Ivanushka in The Little Hunchbacked Horse. Large mime repertoire, including Don Quixote, and Friar Laurence in Romeo and Juliet.
Partnered A. Balashova on a European tour, Anna Pavlova in Paris, 1922, and L. Bank in Paris, Berlin and Riga. Retained an academic style in classical dance. Taught at the Moscow Choreographic School from 1925, and at the Moscow Art Ballet under V. Kriger, 1931-1932.
Artistic director, choreographer and teacher in Baku, 1934-1935.
