Began to write poetry in the late 1930s. During World War II, worked as a military doctor at the front. Wrote Stalinist poems, which she later disowned.
Committed suicide by poisoning herself on her 50th birthday in Moscow. According to one source, this decision was taken when she found out that her former husband had been the author of many denunciations, and therefore guilty of many Gulag tragedies.
