Went to Portland, Oregon, 1879. Locomotive fireman, later engineer North.P. Railway, transport to Coeur d’Alene mining district, Idaho, and was one of original owners Hercules Mine, one of the largest lead-silver producing mines of the country. Built Hutton Building, Spokane, 1907.
Purchased Fernwell Building, 1914.
Built Liberty Theatre. Operated Regal shoe store 10 years.
Director Old National Bank, Union Trust Company Founder, 1917, The Hutton Settlement, a home for orphans, fully endowed, comprising 300 acres of land near Spokane, with modern buildings, on cottage plan, now housing 80 children. Trustee Community Welfare Federation.
Member Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
Married Mary Arkwright, 1887 (died 1915).
