In 1890 Nathan Clifford Grover received a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from the University of Maine, a Master of Civil Engineering in 1897, and a Doctor of Engineering degree in 1930. In 1896 Grover obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
From 1891 to 1894 Nathan Clifford Grover was an instructor of сivil engineering at the University of Maine, an assistant professor from 1894 to 1895, an associate professor from 1895 to 1897, a professor from 1897 to 1903. From 1903 to 1907 he was an engineer at the United States Geological Survey. From 1907 to 1911 he was a hydraulic, construction and irrigation engineer with J. G. White & Company in New York City.
From 1911 to 1913 he was a chief engineer at the Land Classification Board, a chief hydraulic engineer at the United States Geological Survey from 1913 to 1939. In 1939 he retired.
Nathan Clifford Grover was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Washington Society Engineers, Washington Academy of Sciences, Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Beta Pi, Beta Theta Pi.
On June 14, 1900 Nathan Clifford Grover married Anna Allen. They had two children: Dorothy Allen, Mary Hamilton.
