With Gulf Oil Corporation as a chemical engineer since 1913. Discovered the action of aluminum chloride on petroleum hydrocarbons, 1912, introduced same in petroleum refining, 1915, began manufacturer of same from Bauxite on large scale, 1918, and greatly expanded its manufacturer and use, 1924. Announced its availability at 5 cents per pound, 1929, stimulating its use in the dye and other industries.
Holder of some 50 United States patents.
Member of the board education Port Arthur public schools, 1931-1941 (chairman 1934-1941). Member of council University of Texas Ex Students Association since 1941 (president 1941-1943). Member University of Texas Development Board since 1948.
Member American Chemical Society, American Institute Chemical Engineers, Sigma Xi. Mason ( Knights Templar, Shriner). Club: Rotary (president 1938-1939).
