Acquired interest, 1881, equal partner with father, 1887, and on latter’s death, 1897, succeeded to editorial direction and sole ownership. Was secretary to his father during the latter’s 3 yrs’. residence at Athens as United States minister to Greece.
Envoy Extraordinary anu Minister Plenipotentiary to Greece, Roumania and Servia, 1900-1902. Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Austria-Hungary, March 22, 1906-1910 (both posts previously held by his father).
