Dr. Lee received his early education in Tsingtau. He graduated from the University of Nanjing, in 1919 with the B. S. degree and passed the Tsinghua fellowship examination and was sent to the U. S. A. in August 1919. Arriving in America he entered the graduate school of Yale University specializing in forestry and got the M. F. degree in 1921.
After graduation he was transferred to the University of Chicago and specialised in botany. In 1922 he was elected a member of the Sigma Xi Society. He received the Ph. D. degree with honor from the University of Chicago in 1923.
Dr. Lee was appointed head of the Department of Biology of the Peking National Normal University, Peking.
