( As computers have infiltrated virtually every facet of ...)
As computers have infiltrated virtually every facet of our lives, so has computer science influenced nearly every academic subject in science, engineering, medicine, social science, the arts and humanities. Michael Knee offers a selective guide to the major resources and tools central to the entire industry. A discussion of three commonly used subject classification systems precedes an annotated bibliography of over 500 items. As computers have infiltrated virtually every facet of our lives, so has computer science influenced nearly every academic subject in science, engineering, medicine, social science, the arts and humanities. Michael Knee offers a selective guide to the major resources and tools central to the computer industry: teaching institutions, research institutes and laboratories, manufacturers, standardization organizations, professional associations and societies, and publishers. He begins with a discussion of the three subject classification systems most commonly used to describe, index, and manage computer science information: the Association for Computing Machinery, Inspec, and the Library of Congress. An annotated bibliography of over 500 items follows, grouped by material type, and featuring a mix of classic works and current sources.

( In recent years more cultural institutions in hot and h...)
In recent years more cultural institutions in hot and humid climates have been installing air-conditioning systems to protect their collections and provide comfort for both employees and visitors. This practice, however, can pose complications, including problems of installation and maintenance as well as structural damage to buildings, while failing to provide collections with a viable conservation environment. This volume offers hands-on guidance to the specific challenges involved in conserving cultural heritage in hot and humid climates. Initial chapters present scientific and geographic overviews of these climates, outline risk-based classifications for environmental control, and discuss related issues of human health and comfort. The authors then describe climate management strategies that offer effective and reliable alternatives to conventional air-conditioning systems and that require minimal intervention to the historic fabric of buildings that house collections. The book concludes with seven case studies of successful climate improvement projects undertaken by the Getty Conservation Institute in collaboration with cultural institutions around the world. Appendixes include a unit conversion table, a glossary, and a full bibliography. This book is an essential tool for cultural heritage conservators and museum curators, as well as other professionals involved in the design, construction, and maintenance of museums and other buildings housing cultural heritage collections in hot and humid climates.

(Family business is the most prevalent form of organizatio...)
Family business is the most prevalent form of organization in the world. It has been estimated that as many as 90% of businesses are either family owned or family controlled. A third of the Fortune 500 firms, as well as a third of the S & P 500, are family owned or controlled. In universities today, most courses focus on large, public corporations rather than on the long-term ownership issues of the more prevalent family business. This book will explore the main differences between family firms and non-family firms. The audience is students, business owners, professional service providers, and suppliers, for whom the book will provide an appreciation and understanding of the family business. This book will be ideal as a text for a general course on family business course or as a supplemental text for a course in small business, entrepreneurship or business management. It is also ideal for a family business owner or member who seeks to better manage the unique problems and issues inherent in a family firm.
