Giniger was born on February 18, 1919 in New York City, New York, United States; the son of Maurice Aaron Giniger and Pearl (Triester) Giniger.
Giniger studied at the University of Virginia from 1935 to 1939. Also he studied at New York Law School in 1940-1941.
Giniger began his career as an associate editor at Arts & Decoration & The Spur Magazine in 1940. He served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945. Then in 1946, Kenneth was appointed a director of public relations at Prentice-Hall, Inc. In 1949, he became an editor-in-chief of trade book division at the same company.
In 1952, Giniger founded the Hawthorn Books division, a subsidiary of Prentice-Hall, Inc., and became its vice president and general manager until 1961. He served as a president of Hawthorn Books, Inc. from 1961 to 1965. In 1965, Kenneth established his own publishing company, K. S. Giniger Company Inc. Also in 1969, he was elected president of the Consolidated Book Publishers Division of Proceeding Books Inc. Six years later Giniger was appointed a president of the Tradewinds Group, a division of the Paul Hamlyn Group of Sydney, where he worked until 1976. Later he served as a lecturer and adjunct professor at New York University.

1977Giniger was a member of the Church Club of New York and a chairman emeritus of the Layman's National Bible Association. He was on the advisory board of the John Templeton Foundation.
On September 27, 1952 Kenneth Giniger married Carol Virginia Wilkins. On April 13, 2002 he married Bernice Cullinan Giniger.
