1921 organized Theater of Revolutionary Satire, Georgia Dept, of Russia Telegraph Agency. Film work; acted in films: “Ubiystvo Generala Gryaznova” (The Murder of General Gryaznov) (1921). “Suramskaya krepost” (The Fortress of Suram) (1925).
‘‘Chas nastal” (The Hour has Struck) (1925). “Natella” (1926); “Khanuma” (1927). Worked as sculptor and executed statues “The 26 Baku Commissars” and “To the Liberated Peoples of the East”.
1927 Artistic Director, Georgia Workers’ Theater of Proletarian Culture, where he produced Shakespeare's “The Taming of the Shrew” and Tsagareli’s “Other Times Came”. Directed following films: “Posledniy chas” (The Last Hour) (1928). “Pervy kornet Streshnev” (First Cornet Streshnev (1929).
“Saba” (1929); satirical film “Khabarda”. His first sound film, which was severely criticized, was “Posledniy maskarad” (The Last Masquerade) (1934). “Arsen” (1937); “Velikoe zarevo” (The Great Glow) (1938).
“Georgiy Saakadze” (1942/43). “Klyatva” (The Oath) (1946). “Padenie Berlina” (The Fall of Berlin) (1949).
For many years Artistic Director, Tbilisi Film Studio. 1960 member, jury for selection of best Soviet films.
