During 1930's student, Smolensk Pedagogical Institute. 1939 graduated Moscow Institute of Philosophy, Literature and History.
Created a type of literature comic hero - the soldier Vasya Terkin. Translated verse from Belarusian into Ukrainia. Edited Russian-language anthologies of Belarusian and Ukrainia poetry.
Made “creative trips” trough the USSR after World War II and traveled abroad with a delegate of writers. Deputy, Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic Supreme Soviet of 1947, 1951 and 1959 convocation. 1924-1931 corresponding for Smolensk newspapers.
1939-1940 Red Army war-corresponding in Western Belarusian. 1939-1940 commissioned combatant in Russo-Finnish War and corresponding, newspaper “Na strazhe Rodiny”. 1941-1945 special front-line press correspondent.
