Ordained ministry United Presbyterian Church, 1903. Pastor successively Springdale, Pennsylvania, Spokane, Washington, and Fowler, California, until 1915. Associate secretary Board of Home Missions, U.P. Church, Pittsburgh, 1915-1917.

Pastor Butler, Pennsylvania, 1917-1930. Professor Old Testament literature and exegesis, Pittsburgh-Xenia Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh, 1931-1940, professor practical theology 1940-1947. Pastor Mellwood, Pennsylvania, 1948-1949, Fowler, California since 1949.

Associate editor United Presbyterian since 1925.
